is this the end of the free world?

So the rock isn’t the man we hoped he was… or at least the man the American people thought he was. Did anyone really fall for that jingoistic crap anyway? The last man standing between the Eastern Bloc and the rest of the free world. Christ, it’s a professional sport not a war. Although, that said this fight was a war. Maskaev and Rahman really laid it on for us didn’t they? That was probably the most action packed heavyweight title fight I’ve seen since Big Bob and Rob Calloway. And it came right down to the wire… I really had trouble separating them after the 11 rounds and wouldn’t have been surprised if it had gone either way. It was a battle between those hard, controlling jabs of Rahman and those hefty, smash and grab hooks of Maskaev. In the end though Maskaev obviously didn’t want to trust the judges and what a way to win. Twelth round, fuck it I’m gonna smash the champion til he can’t stand up. A new WBC champion and now you have to say, hey maybe European boxers aren’t that bad. It seems they always get bagged but have a look fellas – all the heavyweight titles, Calzaghe made Lacey look like a chump. Hatton is just waiting for his chance to knock off Mayweather, and some of those African exports in the lower weights look purty tough too. We may be about to witness a whole new era in boxing. I hope so. For too long the sport has been controlled by a few and we get shite anfter shite fight foisted upon us. Thing could be changing. I’m almost excited again.
